The Red and White Gold of the Lands of Otricoli

The viticulture of Otricoli is rooted in a long-standing agricultural and family tradition, where each hillside offers a distinct microclimate and unique character. Both native and traditional grape varieties are cultivated, such as Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, Canaiolo, Trebbiano Toscano, Grechetto, and Malvasia, as well as international varieties like Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Malbec, all enhanced through a production approach that respects the land.

All wines from the area fall under the DOC Amelia and IGT Umbria designations, official expressions of a recognized and protected wine identity.

Each year at the end of May, during Ocriculum AD 168, the major historical reenactment set in the 2nd century AD, a fine mulsum - a spiced wine from ancient Rome - is also offered, whose recipe is carefully guarded. This unique wine attracts enthusiasts and curious visitors every year.

Another highlight is Vinotricolando, an August wine event that brings together wine producers from Umbria and Sabina. During the festival, visitors can taste local wines paired with traditional dishes, in a festive atmosphere in the heart of the village.
